Weekly Recap: Cloverfield Paradox, Peter Rabbit, 15:17 To Paris & More

Image
There are a few new releases to talk about this week, including the surprise of The Cloverfield Paradox . Netflix dropped this one right after the Super Bowl to the surprise of many and there were certainly thoughts on it out there. In regular release, we have Peter Rabbit and Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 To Paris . Both have admirable qualities, even if only one is worthwhile. There's also an early Black Panther movie review to enjoy as well. Additionally, one new home release review to help you know what to avoid is here. More importantly, lots of coverage on all the new trailers released this week. Lastly, a great new podcast going over the Sundance Film Festival and the Oscar -nominated short films. Enjoy! How About That Trailer? - Venom

Image
Well, how about it? That was a pretty lackluster trailer for Venom if you ask me. I honestly had a tough time deciding whether or not to do one of these posts for such a weak and generic trailer. Tom Hardy being announced as Venom was intriguing enough for me to be interested in a Spider-Man villain that I'm not a huge fan of in a movie that doesn't have Spider-Man in it (as far as we know). Now we have the first trailer, and it has done very little to inspire much enthusiasm beyond, "Well, it can only get better, one would hope." Check out the trailer below and then keep going to read some more thoughts and enjoy some images/posters.

Out Now Bonus: Sundance 2018 Recap & More

Among topics covered, we have Trailer Talk for Ant-Man and the Wasp ( 3:35 ) and Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home ( 9:37 ), the Oscar-nominated short films ( 16:20 ), Out Now Quickies™ ( 38:19 ), the Sundance Film Festival ( 1:02:25 ), Out Now Feedback ( 1:32:50 ), and Games ( 1:35:40 ). We then wrap things up ( 1:48:26 ) and end on some bloopers ( 2:00:42 ), following this week’s closeout song.  So now, if you’ve got an hour or so to kill… You can also find links to the episode at AudioBoom .  Subscribe via iTunes HERE

How About That Trailer? - Super Bowl Edition (Solo, Skyscraper, Fallout and More!)

Image
Ever since 1996, when audiences got an exciting debut trailer for Independence Day , the Super Bowl has been a great launching ground for new movie trailers. With the rise of Star Wars , among other big December releases, it is now fairly common to see lots of previews towards the end of December. Regardless, even at $5 million a pop, the big game is a place for many studios to head when it comes to giving upcoming summer blockbusters a huge platform to make a first impression. As a result, this post will feature many of the big game TV spots, and some of the full trailers released not too long after. Enjoy the embedded trailers and plenty of posters and pics below. Now, get ready for Solo: A Star Wars Story , Skyscraper, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, A Quiet Place ,  and a couple other biggies for the fun of it. So first up, how about that smuggler?

Weekly Recap: Winchester & More!

Image
As tends to be the case on Super Bowl weekend, there are no huge film releases and the one that has come out is a random horror movie not expected to do big business. That said, Winchester doesn't have much to offer as a haunted house film either. Also in this recap, a few reviews for new home releases as well as some film back in theaters, thanks to the Oscar nominations. I also put up a post going over some thoughts on the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp . Finally, be sure to listen in on this week's podcast. Enjoy! In Theaters Now: Winchester -  http://whysoblu.com/winchester-movie-review/ (Find another house) Get Out -  http://whysoblu.com/embrace- social-thrills-get-movie- review/ (Back in theaters thanks to it's Oscar nominations) Dunkirk -  http://whysoblu.com/dunkirk- movie-review/ (Also back in theaters) Here's The Archive Of Every Review Throughout The Year(s) -  http://www.thecodeiszeek.com /p/review-archive.html
