Weekly Recap: Haunted Mansion, Talk To Me, They Cloned Tyrone, Barbenheimer & More!

Last weekend was huge for theaters and a big win for everyone. This week -- likely the same, given how popular the cultural event of " Barbenheimer " has turned out to be, but two new horror releases have arrived as well. One is Disney's Haunted Mansion . The other is A24's indie Talk To Me. I have reviews for both and a number of other new write-ups covering films involving sharks, clones, zombies, and more. Plus, we have a couple of new podcasts this week, with one spending plenty of time on Oppenheimer and  Barbie,  and another talking all about The Dark Knight for its 15th anniversary. And the Summer of 93 at 30 podcast series continues with another fun episode. So, feel free to check out all these reviews, podcasts, lists, trailers, and other fun. Enjoy, stay safe out there, and thanks for reading! New Movie Reviews: (All Reviews Are Linked) Haunted Mansion -  Funny and spooky in a family-friendly way. -  In Theaters   Talk To Me -  Grippin

Out Now 542: Oppenheimer & Barbie

Image
This week's  Out Now with Aaron and Abe is delivering the results of cinematic fusion. Aaron and Abe are joined by Russell Latham and Mark Hobin to discuss Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and the live-action adaptation of Barbie . Split into two halves, hear what one part feels about the IMAX-shot dramatic take on the father of the atomic bomb, and another part focused on whether or not an acclaimed filmmaker’s take on a popular fashion doll paid off. Plus, there’s time to go over what “Barbenheimer” meant for movie theaters, audiences, and the studios, as well as other films to go over, games, and feedback. Tune in for Barbenheimer talk ( 5:48 ), Out Now Quickies™ ( 18:39 ), the main reviews ( 34:13 ) and ( 1:23:54 ), Games ( 2:09:38 ), and Out Now Feedback ( 2:19:57 ). Out Now Commentary: The Dark Knight (2008)

Image
This month’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe commentary is bound to put a smile on that face of yours. Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters, Yancy Jack, and Scott Mendelson to discuss The Dark Knight ¸ Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster Batman sequel that captured the zeitgeist and brought superhero films to another level. Listen in to hear the group discuss their regard for the film, the legacy when it comes to its impact, themes, and politics, and, of course, thoughts on Heath Ledger’s i conic performance as the Joker. Plus, plenty of other tangents and other fun (and just a note, Scott’s power, unfortunately, went out during recording, so he’s absent for the middle portion of the film, only to return later).
