Out Now Commentary: Top Gun (1986)

This month’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe commentary track is taking audiences to the danger zone. Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters, Yancy Berns, Peter Paras, and Scott Mendelson to discuss the 80s pop culture classic action film, Top Gun . 36 years later, on the eve of the release of the much-anticipated sequel, the group covers the film from all angles, including what director Tony Scott managed to create by focusing on escapism, the genius of producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson to capitalize on this sort of action, and the craftiness of star Tom Cruise, a budding movie star at the time. There’s plenty more discussion about the nature of the production, what makes this film stand out among other action and popular films of its time, and lots of fun tangents as well. So now, if you’ve got a couple of hours to kill… You can also find links to the episode at AudioBoom or Spotify .  Subscribe via iTunes HERE

Summer Movie Season has arrived. This weekend sees the launch of Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , which is bound to be a big theater success. Out Now Nights 26: The Nights and the Furious

Image
For this episode of Out Now Nights (nights), Aaron and Abe decided to dig into some recent movie news. First up is a discussion of Fast X and the sudden departure of director Justin Lin . Why did this happen? Is Vin Diesel to blame, or is it the demands of Universal ? The two also cover the departure of director Jon Watts from the MCU's Fantastic Four . What does this mean, and did Ant-Man: Quantimania move forward in the calendar for Peyton Reed to have his shot? Finally, there are thoughts on the idea of Avatar: The Way of Water premiering its trailer exclusively in theaters for a week before being made available online, and if that's a pattern that should continue. So now, if you've got an hour or so to kill… You can also find links to the episode at AudioBoom or Spotify . Subscribe via iTunes HERE

Once again, it has begun, and it’s more epic than ever. The Summer Movie Gamble has returned, and it’s a big one – Out Now with Aaron & Abe presents Summer Movie Gamble X . This is the tenth occasion in which Aaron and Abe, along with many regular guests and friends of the show, participate in selecting their predictions for what they feel will be the top ten highest-grossing films of the Summer. Will it be a Marvel movie? What about Jurassic World Dominion ? Maybe something else will surprise us all. There have been shockers in the past, but one thing is for sure, this is one intense competition. Listen in to hear the launch of this year’s gamble, which doubles as a Summer Movie preview episode, featuring last year’s Global Champion, Brandon Peters of The Brandon Peters Show, and one of the former champions, Fast Film Reviews’ Mark Hobin .
