Out Now Bonus: CATS!

Image
This bonus  Out Now with Aaron and Abe  episode goes over the catastrophe that is Tom Hooper’s Cats (or is it a secret success). Aaron and Abe are joined by a very excited Professor Mike Dillon to go over the live-action adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical extravaganza, who has delivered something that looks unlike anything else out there in theaters. This episode focuses on breaking down the plot, analyzing the film song by song, with plenty of opinions over whether or not this was an effective way to create a cinematic event for the holiday season. So now, if you've got an hour or so to kill... You can also find links to the episode at AudioBoom or Spotify . Subscribe via iTunes HERE

Weekly Recap: 1917, Little Women, Spies In Disguise & More!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and enjoy some new reviews for the films arriving on the final full week of 2019. There's a good collection of films here, with 1917  delivering an intense survival war drama, Little Women  working as a great new retelling of the classic story, and Spies in Disguise  plays as a fun blend of silly comedy and spy action in animated form. There's also my list of various award contenders still in theaters and now on home media, and various streaming services. The first of a few top ten lists is up as well. There are also some new  home media releases as well. Finally, there are plenty of new trailers to dig into as well, along with our latest podcast covering Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker .  Enjoy and thanks for reading! New to Theaters : (All Reviews Are Linked) 1917  -  A remarkable cinematic effort. Little Women -  A very good adaptation of the classic novel. Spies in Disguise -  Delivers on its ridiculous premise. Netflix

Brief Thoughts: Late 2019 Netflix Round-up – Atlantics, Dolemite, Ferns, Klaus, Marriage, Popes & More!

While I have no connection to Netflix outside of being a subscriber, I can’t deny the wide array of diverse cinematic content they’ve put out during this awards season. For every 6 Underground , the studio seems to have also thrown plenty of money at various auteurs and new talent (as far as their prestige releases go). Yes, The Irishman was able to deliver on being all Scorsese wanted it to be, but Netflix put out several movies during the Fall and early Winter in 2019 that I wanted to make more reference to than the occasional podcast episode. The following is a series of brief thoughts covering these releases. Sure, I wish I had the time to devote to each of these films and construct full reviews, but I’m happy to say at least something about each of these features (presented in alphabetical order).

Abrams-directed series finale of the biggest movie franchise of all time, along with additional thoughts on the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie, Tenet , and more . The gang then wraps things up ( 2:03:05 ), followed by this week's closeout song, plus a blooper ( 2:11:45 ). So now, if you've got an hour or so to kill... Weekly Recap: Star Wars, 1917 & More!

Image
We've now arrived at the biggest release of the season, let alone the year.  Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker  is now in theaters everywhere and it's...a bit of a letdown. It will no doubt appeal to a certain side of the fandom, and that's great, and I hope it grows on me over time, I guess. Regardless, I have a review of that film, along with an early one for  1917 . There's also my list of various award contenders still in theaters and now on home media, and various streaming services. The first of a few top ten lists is up as well. There's also Ad Astra  out on home media as well. Finally, there are plenty of new trailers to dig into as well, along with our latest podcast covering Uncut Gems .  Enjoy and thanks for reading! New to Theaters : (All Reviews Are Linked) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker -  An underwhelming end to the saga. Uncut Gems -  Adam Sandler gives his best performance ever. Weekly Recap: Jumanji, Gems, Jewell, Bombshell & More!

Image
It's a very big week for movies, as several new releases hit theaters and streaming. The big release is the Jumanji sequel, which is enjoyable. There's also Clint Eastwood's Richard Jewell and Bombshell , two films taking on media in their own ways. Terrence Malick is back with another visually terrific drama. Michael Bay has a visually excessive action flick. Best of all is Uncut Gems , where Adam Sandler is at his best. There's also still the list of various award contenders still in theaters and now on home media, and various streaming services. And there are still some other releases to check out as well, including Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood  and  It: Chapter Two , which are now available as a home release. There are also plenty of new trailers to dig into as well. And lastly, be sure to enjoy our latest podcast covering The Irishman .  Enjoy and thanks for reading!
