Weekly Recap: A Quiet Place Part II, Cruella, F9 & More!

Image
It's Memorial Day weekend and this weekend resembles what many have come to expect at the movies - multiple blockbusters. This week sees the release of the horror sequel  A Quiet Place Part II  and the live-action  Disney  re-imagining  Cruella . Both are worthwhile, and I'll be curious to see what kind of theatrical success they have. Plus, I have an early review of  F9: The Fast Saga , which scores well enough as a huge blockbuster film. Also, d on't miss the podcasts from this week, including our thoughts on Army of the Dead  and the return of the Summer Movie Gamble . Finally, check out my various essays, lists, and new trailers to dig into as well. Enjoy, stay safe out there, and thanks for reading! Out Now Bonus: Summer Movie Gamble IX – Rise Of Summer

Image
This week’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe finds everyone back in the Out Now Saga, preparing for a Summer victory. Aaron is joined by Terence Johnson, Scott Mendelson, and Peter Paras for the return of the Summer Movie Gamble , making it the Rise of Summer . This time the group is taking things worldwide, as predictions are all focused on the global blockbuster totals for this year’s summer movie season. F9 will likely win out, but how well is the family going to do. Is the MCU going to have a bigger hit with Black Widow or Shang-Chi ? Do people care about Snake Eyes or Space Jam ? And will this be a Jungle Cruise worth taking for audiences? The group goes over their picks, along with plenty of other thoughts about the upcoming summer movie season. There is lots of chatter about what to expect in this summer preview that doubles as an intense competition starter. Out Now Commentary: Hannibal Rising (2007)

Image
This month’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe commentary track is taking it all back to our Lithuanian beginnings. Aaron and is joined by Brandon Peters, Yancy Berns , and Scott Mendelson to discuss Hannibal Rising , the near-forgotten prequel film that takes an unnecessary look at the iconic villain . This is the final chapter of our Hannibal Lecter commentary series, and this is obviously where it all comes together, so get ready. Listen in to hear the group talk about the fact that this film exists, why movies like this are made, what else was taking place in the world of film at this point, and occasionally some thoughts on the actual film. There’s plenty more discussion about the nature of the production, what makes this film stand out as lesser than what came before, and lots of fun tangents as well.
