Out Now 408: The Vast Of Night

This week's  Out Now with Aaron and Abe  is receiving a signal… from the skies! Aaron and Battleship Pretension’s David Bax discuss The Vast of Night , the directorial debut of Andrew Patterson . The guys discuss the strength of this directorial debut and what it is about this 50s-set sci-fi flick that speaks well to what independent features are capable of. Following some listener feedback, the group also discusses streaming services, which ones cater to what aspects of media, smaller services deserving a shout out, and the best way to allocate funds in regards to which services would serve best for folks. Weekly Recap: High Note, Vast of Night, The Trip, Justice League, & More!

It's the end of May and there is a lot to go over. This week's recap is based around some new films I've seen via digital and some screeners for titles now available on VOD. There's also a list of the recent releases made available to stream, rent, or own digitally. There are two notable new releases this week, a pretty good music-focused comedy-drama,  The High Note ,  and the excellent indie sci-fi film, The Vast of Night. I have reviews for both. Additionally, there are several new podcasts, including thoughts on The Lovebirds, The Trip to Greece , and Zack Snyder's  Justice League . Before the beginning of May became a huge launching ground for the first movie of the Summer Movie Season, Memorial Day weekend was where it was at. Now we've got digital releases, but at least this week has the latest entry in a 'hit' franchise. This week's recap is based around some new films I've seen via digital and some screeners for titles now available on VOD. This week's  Out Now with Aaron and Abe  is tracking a few humble bounty hunters. Aaron and Abe are joined by Michael Lee and Mark Pacis to take a look back at the much-loved anime series and genre unto itself, Cowboy Bebop from creator Shinichiro Watanabe. The group goes over their thoughts on the classic series, along with the impact it had on them relative to other anime series, movies, and similar media. This week's  Out Now with Aaron and Abe  would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for those meddling kids. Aaron and Abe are joined by the lovely Ana Bosch to discuss the CG animated cinematic take on Scooby-Doo, Scoob! The trio goes over the movie originally intended for theaters, but available on VOD, and featuring the talents of many for the sake of a very modern look at Shaggy, Scooby, and Mystery Inc.
