Weekly Recap: Gemini Man, Parasite & More!

Image
This week you can pay to see Will Smith in Gemini Man, and get another Will Smith for free! The Ang Lee action flick arrives in 3D and 120 frames per second (and only so many theaters will be able to play it in that format). It's decent enough if you find a premium screen to see it on. More important - Parasite arrives in limited release and it's one of the year's best films. A few new home releases to look for as well, all good stuff. The Walking Dead is back too, so I have a new review up for that. There are also plenty of new trailers to dig into as well. And lastly, be sure to enjoy a couple of new podcasts we put together for all to hear and have fun with, including our review of Joker. Enjoy and thanks for reading! Now in Theaters: Gemini ManI wish the film was better in terms of story, but the visuals and Will Smith are in top form.ParasiteA dark comedy and Hitchcockian thriller. One of the year's best films.Joker - Joaquin Phoenix is as great as one expects…

Aaron and Abe are joined by Brad Oman and Ben Konowitz from the Go Flix Yourself podcast to discuss Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. As a film that entered theaters with media-generated controversy, there’s a lot to get into regarding the standalone DC supervillain origin story, along with plenty more movie talk. Among the topics covered, there’s a fun round of Know Everybody (4:48), Out Now Quickies™ (9:15), Trailer Talk for Birds of Prey(18:26), the main review (24:11), Games (1:26:01), and Out Now Feedback (1:37:34). The gang then wraps things up (1:48:52), with a blooper (2:00:34) following this week's closeout song. So now, if you've got an hour or so to kill...

Weekly Recap: Joker, Lucy In The Sky, & More!

Image
Here's a packed week to look into, starting with the Crown Prince of Gotham City, Joker. The film has arrived and it's big, dark, and gritty. A few other notable releases as well, including an astronaut drama that could have been better. At home, you can find Spider-Man swinging around Europe for fun. There are also plenty of new trailers to dig into as well. And lastly, be sure to enjoy a couple of new podcasts we put together for all to hear and have fun with, including our reviews of Ad Astraand Abominable. Enjoy and thanks for reading! Now In Theaters Joker - Joaquin Phoenix is as great as one expects in a film that works as a dark character study more than a comic book movie. Lucy in the Sky - Speaking of dark character studies, this is a flawed feature that could have been better.Pain and Glory - And to cap things off, this Spanish character study starring Antonio Banderas is a great piece of self-reflection from director Pedro Almodovar. The Day Shall Come - A solid satire…
